Homemade breadsticks

By MzBaker 1 Comment

So I originally found this recipe on justapinch.com.  I am going to change this recipe and turn it into a homemade bread sticks originally calls for a
1/4 c unsalted butter
1 1/4 c all purpose flour
2 tsp sugar
2 tsp baking powder
1 tsp salt
2/3 c milk

For more of the original Recipe please visit justapinch.com.

The Changes I will make to this recipe

1 1/2 cup all purpose flour
1 1/2 TBSP sugar
1 tsp baking powder
1 tsp salt
1/3 cup milk
1/3 cup warm water
1 package of active yeast

Mix water and yeast set aside to activate. In mixing bowl put flour, sugar, salt and baking powder. Mix well and plop out on to a lightly floured surface and knead a little flour in to it, just for a minute. Then shape round and roll it under till you have a nice sticky top and place in a pre sprayed with butter spray bowl. Let it sit for about 1-2 hours.

Our dough was a little sticky so I added a little more flour which I made up for in my version of this recipe!

While this is sitting and time gets closer to being done rising, place a half of a stick of butter in to a 9×9 square pan and place in oven to let it melt. Once melted remove from oven and set on counter and start your dough.

Once it has sat punch it down and place it out on a lightly floured surface once more and spread out in to an 8 inch square and cut strips with a pizza cutter. Once you cut it roll them around one at a time in the buttery pan and then rest them side by side in the pan.

Bake on 350 degree’s for 20 minutes (this may change with trial and error baking)
