Some favorite memories from my childhood! #CHALLENGETOWRITE

I remember when I was a kid, I spent a lot of time with my Grandma & Aunts.

When I hear state North Carolina I am flooded with lots of memories that I cherish. My Grandma loved to drive to North Carolina, through the smokies she was checking out the truckers, I know it now.  I also remember some of the funnest times with my Grandma when we went to North Carolina, my Aunt W sat on a needle. poor thing.  I guess someone was sewing in the big ole station wagon we drove in, same Aunt got stung by a bee too.  There was a time when on our North Carolina trips I remember seeing a lizard with a blue tail for the first time! My Grandma told me it was poisonous, it wasn’t though, some time later I learned it was a skink.

We took many trips to NC during my young, young years probably till I was around 5  – 7 years old.  One time I guess I was bored maybe 3 or 4  years old and I wanted to play a game.  Well my Grandma started saying Shanny, oh Shanny and when I didn’t respond, it for sure alarmed her.  They searched all over for me lol I was rotten   They couldn’t find me anywhere and so the next thing was to call the police.  When the police came out to this motel they talked with my family and the officer says to my Grandma, is that her hiding behind the curtain? SHANNON!!!!! LOL I was literally in the window you could see me from the outside that is how he noticed me and there I was waiting to be found lol cause I was playing hide and seek, even if no one else was.

My Grandmother is gone now from this world anyways, but not my heart.  When I was around 11 or 12 I lived with my Grandma for some time, there was no where for me to sleep really.  So I slept in my Grandma’s room with her, we would lay there talking for an hour sometimes 20 minutes.  She had a new alarm clock back then in the early 80’s and it had a timer button, when you pressed it the music played for 59 minutes.  We would listen and sing country music or just talk, I really miss her a lot.   I lost several family members in a short time and it was and still is really hard to deal with, but I cherish all those memories I have with them.

My Aunt & Uncle Both Passed with in 2 months of each other. My aunt’s passing was a shock. My Uncle was sick with really bad lung problems. Aunt~September 11, 2010, Uncle~November 28, 2010
