Holland House Marsala Cooking Wine! <3 Loved It!!!

Holland House Cooking Wine Review

Today we used Marsala Cooking Wine!

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

I had the pleasant surprise of receiving four bottles of Holland House Cooking Wines.   I will tell you what I received, but I’m only going to share my experience with the first and only one I have tried so far.  I always hear the name Marsala and so I really wanted to try that one first.  It had a great fresh wine smell and when I tasted it, because it’s the first time I cooked with wine.  I was impressed!  I could taste the salt in it and figured I didn’t need to add to much if any salt.

I made the recipe for Chicken Marsala, I did partially use the recipe on the back of their bottle.

I started by slicing the mushrooms, then put in pan with butter to start saute’n, then started beating my boneless chicken breast until kinda thin, then dredged in flour.  I added a little extra flour between the pieces of chicken to prevent them from sticking together.  After mushrooms saute’d and were cooked nicely I removed them from the pan and I did add a little extra butter,  then cooked the chicken thoroughly on both sides until it had a little color.  I removed the chicken to a pan and covered partially, and I put the mushrooms back in the pan and added the water, wine, parsley and rosemary.  I let this simmer for several minutes and it stayed like liquid and didn’t become a sauce.  So I took about a tablespoon of flour and I mixed it with a little hot water till thick but pour able, with no lumps!  Mix in to the sauce just not all of it though, just judge it you do not want paste and it can thicken fairly fast so stir fast.

While the mushrooms cooked in the Marsala wine, the house filled with a smell I never smelled before.  When my husband walked in the door he was smiling and asked, What did you make?  I said I think it’s something kinda gourmet cause it was beautiful!  When I plated our food and finally got to taste it all together, oh my goodness was it good!  I never tasted anything like it before, you could very lightly tell their was wine in it. All I know is I was really impressed with the recipe and the Holland House Marsala Cooking Wine!  Let me add that it has a shelf life after opening of 16 months! Not that it will last that long.  I really loved this Cooking wine! I cannot wait to try the next one.  I am thinking the Holland House Red Cooking Wine will be next!

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAMy sides were a can of cut green beans cooked in butter and smashed potatoes with garlic and parmesan.  I took around 5 or 6 garlic cloves and a tablespoon of butter and sealed it all up in foil and roasted in oven for around 20 minutes.  Then I took the garlic and mixed it with melted butter and mixed it, milk, butter, parmesan and parsley.  Mixed it all up good and man they were tasty!

These sides went really well with the Chicken Marsala!

I just started not long ago to love mushrooms, before that I couldn’t eat them. Then I cooked them cut up small with butter, onions and green peppers and wow it was so good! I started to like them a lot more. I can’t eat them raw they really have to be tender and not chewy. I will not eat the canned! lol

It was the first time for me. I used four different kinds all together over different meals. I had Marsala, Red, Sherry and White Wine with lemon.
