Don’t buy frozen foods! Make them yourself like I do!

By MzBaker 7 Comments

This is how I make frozen meals for our family.  I took a big pack of ground beef it weighed 4.91lbs and I put it in my big ole pan with 8 cups of water.  I know a lot of people think why the water ewwwww.  I love using water or beef broth for liquid, I love what it does to the beef.  It falls apart and becomes much more loose than if I just browned it, I just prefer it like this too.  It’s kinda like the texture of taco bell meat but better cause it’s really beef!

Ingredients:

  1. 1 whole onion
  2. 1 whole green pepper
  3. 2 TBSP Chili Powder
  4. 2 TBSP Cumin
  5. 2 TBSP Garlic Powder
  6. 1.5 TBSP Salt
  7. 1 TBSP Pepper
  8. 1 TBSP of my homemade Fajita Seasoning.
  9. Beef, Beans, Cheese and taco sauce.  You can use chicken or pork too!

I mix it all together and let it simmer for around 2 hours.  I want the veggies to be tender so you can’t even tell they are there.  It helps when my son thinks he hates them lol he don’t even realize they are in it.  So here are some photos of what I made.

  • 10 Bean & Cheese Burritos
  • 10 Bean & Beef Burritos
  • 10 Beef Burritos
  • 1 Bag of Chili Meat (for another occasion)

I don’t know about your family, but we love Mexican food and its great when you can pull a burrito out of the freezer and nuke it for a few minutes or you can let it thaw some and put it in a non-stick pan and let it cook on low till it is ready to be turned and has reached a nice golden crispy bottom.  I love doing them in a pan like that, they are super good!

I do these too with my Lumpia (egg rolls). I always makes a lot and freeze them so when we crave for it, I just whip it out from the freezer and bake or fry it.

I’m delighted to know that I’m not the only one doing it. I love to cook myself and I love to feed my family only the best.

When I get my freezer cleaned, I want to start storing frozen food. I will try making burritos too as my husband loves it.
