Time To Make That Change! Low-Sodium Dieting To Lower Blood Pressure!

 DSCF2328[1]

So I went to the doctors yesterday and was told that my Blood Pressure was high, well I wasn’t too surprised. I already knew that it was high, it has been for years. I have an enlarged heart and heart disease. I have struggled over the years with eating the right things because we cannot afford to always buy the best things for our health and sometimes I just didn’t care. Which was wrong of me…..

During my visit yesterday the doctor showed me something that really blew my mind and I thought long and hard about it last night. So today began the Low-Sodium Diet. I had to measure and weigh out foods that I am using to get exact amounts of sodium for what I am using or at least as close as possible to the total mg’s.

I felt overwhelmed after my appointment yesterday with all the things I know I have done and shouldn’t have as far as my health is concerned.  It’s too late though now, so all I can do is try to change it right?  That is the plan.  I wont say it will be easy and you may even hear me rant and rave about it.  Hope thats okay, cause this really will be a struggle! I love to cook and make delicious meals that are just out of this world.  So now I need to find a way to make them healthier and cheap, cause we don’t have a lot of money.  Most items from the grocers that are fresh or healthy cost a lot more! I could go to the grocery store with $20 and buy 10 boxes of mac n cheese, box butter, hot dogs, buns, bread, eggs, milk.  That don’t even include the meat which we buy maybe twice a month with hopes of it being enough to get through.  If we took that same $20 I could probably get three fresh fruits or veggies most packages are over $5 each, so I could get eggs and maybe milk still with the fruits or veggies.

Anyways I’ll do the best I can to change our whole family’s eating habits since I am the one who cooks.

Wish me luck! 🙂
