The package I received is for students ages 10+ and also comes with online access for one year with very detailed and guided instructions from myself.  The package comes with an assortment of teaching manuals, a work book, posters and transfer cards. You can teach the entire Reading Horizons program with the online software and directions from myself. 

I have to admit that when I started reading it felt a bit overwhelming, there are so many things to teach.  But no worries just sit back relax and read!  That’s how I do it, I love Reading Horizons they provide everything I need to teach my son.  He does need some elevating in his reading so this was perfect match for him.  He really enjoys the work book, it’s funny I always loved working out of work books as a kid.  Nothing beats that online access to learn.  It makes it more fun he really enjoys it.   

I think that Reading Horizons is an amazing program, I have tried both Discovery and Elevate at home! They are both Amazing.  The Discovery At Home is how I taught my son most of his reading. So if you have a younger child you’d want to use that one first.  Now this program will just make him better at it.  So far he’s doing great!  No comments yet, saying it’s too hard.  He’s a smart kid though and catches on fast, which is a blessing for this mom! 🙂 

So what comes with this program exactly? Lots of exciting tools to teach with!

• You get 68 skill based lessons to teach your child/student the 42 sounds of the ABC’s, 5 Phonetic Skills, 2 Decoding Skills and several grammar rules.
• The 13 most common word lessons, so you can give practice with high frequency words.  These are the words included daily in 65% of all our reading and writing. (e.g. the, it, a, and)
• A vocabulary teaching too that has over 10,000 terms that will help develop vocabulary and decoding skills simultaneously.

I would recommend Reading Horizons to any parent or teacher, especially if they need that extra help to learn.  Some kids struggle like my son does occasionally and he needs that extra boost.  This is PERFECT!
