4 Tips for Job Seekers!

4 Tips for Job Seekers

 Job search

Job hunting is one of the most universally loathed activities in the world.  With Columbia Utilities it doesn’t have to be that bad, however, if you follow these four tips for landing a callback every time.

1. Search Specifically

Instead of just plugging “job openings” into a search engine, narrow down the field by looking for available positions within the confines of your industry. For example, if you want to work in energy, look at local utility companies and see if anyone has an opening.

2. Proofread Your Resume

Typos are one of the biggest reasons why resumes get thrown in the trash. If you don’t have the attention to detail necessary to proofread a one-page document, why should hiring managers trust you within their company?

3. Network, Network, Network

If no one’s giving you an interview, try broadening your horizons to other people who will. Go to trade shows; slip into lectures and seminars; attend professional mixers and networking events.

4. Never Give Up

Your dream job is out there. You just have to find it. It may take months, and you might face a lot of rejection before the right door opens for you, but you’ll never find employment if you get discouraged and just stay home.

These are four simple tips that can help you find a job. The economy may be limping back to its normal state, but you don’t have to wait around for it. Make your own destiny by taking control of your future.
