Our Bunny Bear’s Lymphoma Diagnosis! #CancerSucks
UPDATE: Jan 10th our baby left us………
This is NOT a sponsored post!
We recently noticed our dear sweet Bunny Bear had lumps in this throat. We were shocked and concerned. We schedule an appointment for Monday December 26th. We took him in the first time on December 22nd and they gave him Baytril which is an antibiotic just in case it was an infection causing his lymph nodes to swell up like they are.
They said we had to bring him back on Monday so we can leave him there for testing to be done. That was the Monday December 26th, it took a bit longer for test results to come back because of the holidays. So we didn’t get a call back until Thursday December 29th doctor left a message and we tried calling back but they closed. So we didn’t get the results back until January 2nd.
We’re on night shift so I had to call him as soon as I could in the morning and it seemed like it took forever to get through, still nothing until later that day while we were sleeping he left a detailed voicemail explaining it was Lymphosarcoma which is Lymphoma in Dogs. My heart literally broke in half…. I love my Bunny Bear so much!
The vet was pretty pricey for the tests, I wish they would have just tested for cancer only, that way I would have had a little bit more money to play with for his care for the remaining time.
My sweet boy in the above photo enjoying being a lap dog and getting some love, that cat that’s right there is his bestest friend. Actually, the dog is the cat’s bestest friend. He grooms him and loves him like he’s is real sibling! So, back to the vet, he told us he knew we couldn’t afford the chemotherapy for the dog, and after my mom just went through it. she said she wouldn’t ever put her pets through it. So the vet recommended we put him on a High Dose of Steroids to shrink the lymph nodes. I said okay at first, then I started doing my own research about steroids and the immune system.
I have been ravishing the internet looking for what I’d call more legitimate sources to find other less conventional treatments. I have actually found so many things to read and what the do and help with. So immunity boost is super important! I bought some K9 Immunity Plus on Amazon after doing a lot of reading! Now, I realize I needed two bags instead of one for the first month. So I’ll be ordering some more shortly. So far I cannot see any drastic change, but I’m hopeful that something positive will become of the situation.
I also bought some Rachael Ray Nutrish Zero Grain Dog Food, but I think I may not buy that again and just start feeding him all real food! Meat, eggs, veggies and supplements. He loves when Mama cooks him something up!
Let me tell you he loves this stuff in the baggie! I make a couple days in advance and give it to him every day.
There are lots of things you do besides chemo, we can’t afford so we’re giving it our best shot. There is no guarantee with any treatment that he’ll live. The vet made that clear. I hope this post can possibly help anyone else out there who may need it. I will keep you guys updated!

SO sorry to hear you doggie has cancer! My mom just lost the family cat this past January to cancer in less than a month. She had a tumor appear suddenly on her jaw, my mom paid to have it removed, and it was back twice as fast after. There was just nothing to be done. The vet said the chemo would probably kill her if the tumor didn’t. (she was 18) I encourage you to make your own dog food. I make food for my cats (which requires a lot more work than dogs!), and next time I have another dog I’ll make her food too. I won’t eat food out of a box or a bag, I refuse to make my wonderful animal companions eat that way. It’s much cheaper too. Not just in daily cost, but in overall health. (it costs about .89 cents a day for my two cats) There’s a lot of good info on the web, something I didn’t have when I started doing it 20 years ago
