Reading Horizons for my Struggling Reader!
When I seen the opportunity to try Reading Horizons for a review! I had to jump on it, I’m eager to find anything to help my son move forward in reading. He’s 10 years old and has a learning disability as well as Autism Spectrum Disorder, but he’s a bit more functional than with Autism. There are some things that can just make his mind come to life and he just gets so creative! Since the beginning early ages 3 or 4 I started him on his alphabet, doing all the things I could think of to help him learn his letters and sounds. See I made the mistake of teaching letters and sounds with each letter. Reading Horizons teaches the letters in groups and only works on the one sound, with 1 vowel and four or five consonants. My son had trouble just remembering simple words like on, in, at, of, an, am. Now He whips right through them, even just spelling off the top of his head. I will continue this with him as its truly helping him, I will do my best to update monthly on his progress using the Reading Horizons Bundle package which is what I happily received.
Now for the Mommy part! I received a package in the mail that included several teachers manuals, letter group cards, books and more. I was a bit nervous at first, I won’t lie, an overwhelming feeling hit me! I started to look through the books and I found a disc in the back of Chapter one I popped it in and loaded it up. It was amazing videos that teach you how to do everything as a homeschooling parent. How to use your hands when talking to making sounds everything I need is right here! I can only do better from here in my part teaching my sweet son.
I honestly couldn’t be more happy! I have used numerous different ways to try to help Leo learn. I also incorporated the game Minecraft in to learning how to read. This has worked the absolute best! I recommend it to all parents and teachers who have students that struggle to read! You don’t just get the materials online to learn from, you get the complete package in this bundle! The videos for Me & the books are the best thing I have ever used. I make sure to read and reread what I’m going to teach him next and I watch the teaching videos to help me along the way.
Thank you so much for the Excellent opportunity to try this program! I am so happy to see my son reading more words in the last 3 weeks than in the last 6 months!
