Comfort Food Saturday!
I let a bag of 15 bean soup soak in water overnight. Early in the morning I got out the big hunk of ham and bone that I froze from Christmas Dinner, as well as the Ham Stock I also saved. I then cut julienne style red, green, orange, yellow peppers and a onion. I put it all in the beans and put it on low and let it cook all day long! The house didn’t smell like beans, it smelled like Ham was cooking. I’m not big on beans so I also made some delicious Smokehouse Maple Pork Chops and Sweet Potatoes with fried Corn Bread!
I marinated the chops all day in Smokehouse Maple and Molasses Bacon seasonings!
Oh Hubby was in his glory let me tell you! He loves my cooking and always tells me I can cook better than his mom could. 🙂 shh don’t tell her that lol I can cook though! I amaze myself sometimes with the stuff I come up with.
Unfortunately today I did myself in! I made a batch of dough, yeast dough to try and make my own recipe of yeast rolls. Well they turned out like hockey pucks and were hard and dense and even had a weird smell. So we didn’t eat them. I then made a Chocolate Cake from scratch and forgot to add the oil! I swear today just wasn’t my day in the kitchen! Dinner was good though, I made another ham. It was just a half a ham not a huge one. We all ate and now are all retired to our rooms.
What did you have over the weekend and what was your favorite?
