If you are like most people, your Christmas tree will be the centrepiece of your holiday design – decorated with your beloved collection of sparkling baubles, meaningful crafts from your children and glittering lights. But what if you love Christmas ornaments so much that you want to decorate the rest of your home with them as well? What if you have collected too many ornaments over the years to fit on your tree, but you still want to display them anyway?
There are plenty of creative ways that you can decorate with Christmas tree ornaments besides placing them on a tree. These lovely ornaments will carry a lot of special memories and will have a special history to them – so why not use them to bring holiday cheer to other areas of your home?
Here are a few fun and creative ideas for how you can decorate with your Christmas tree ornaments. For a great selection of beautiful Christmas tree ornaments, visit ornamentshop.com/family-christmas-ornaments-c157.
Create a Festive Chandelier
If you have a chandelier in your home, this is the perfect opportunity to decorate it with Christmas ornaments. The decorations will look very jolly and festive when they are placed within the twinkling lights of the chandelier – especially if they are elegant glass icicles or snowflakes.
In order for this look to be most effective, try using a variety of ornaments in different sizes and shapes – and hang one ornament from each arm of the chandelier as well as one in the middle.
Make a Holiday Table Centrepiece
All of those big round sparkly Christmas tree baubles are perfect for using in a centrepiece on your table. Here’s a really easy yet effective idea – find a large glass bowl or vase and fill it with sparkling and shiny round ball Christmas decorations. If they are all a similar size and colour scheme, this will look very stylish and sophisticated. You could also fill in the gaps with pine cones or fresh holly.
Another fun idea is to glue the decorations to the type of cone of foam that florists use. You can arrange the decorations to create a Christmas display – even adding twigs, holly and pine cones as well.
A Christmas Baby Mobile
If you are celebrating Christmas with a little one, why not make them a special festive mobile that can dangle over their bed? You will need to start with a wire frame, whether you buy one or make it yourself. Then, choose an array of Christmas ornaments that you think your baby will find interesting to gaze up at while they are falling asleep in their crib. Perhaps you can go with a colour scheme, or choose a theme like Santa ornaments or snowmen.
Make sure that you secure the ornaments to the mobile and then hang it above the baby’s cot or changing table. Make sure that the mobile is out of reach for the baby, yet has room to swing and spin around. Your little bundle of joy will love watching the shiny and colourful ornaments spin around – perhaps it will be one of their very first Christmas memories.
Christmas Dinner Place Markings
Here’s another fun idea for using those extra Christmas ornaments you just don’t have room for on the tree. When you are setting your table for Christmas dinner, you can attach a name tag to each ornament and use them to mark the place where all of your guests will be sitting. This can look really stylish and modern if the ornaments are all the same, but they don’t have to be. The sparkly snowflake for Aunt Carol, the large glittery green bauble for Grandpa Sam and the painted angel decoration for your cousin Carrie – everyone will have a unique and beautiful decoration marking their place at the table.
These are just a few fun ideas for decorating with Christmas ornaments in other fun ways beyond the tree. However, I bet if you started experimenting you could find a lot more. The key to decorating for Christmas is having fun, being creative and making things special and festive. Play around with different décor ideas and enjoy yourself – you might just come up with something great that you will want to repeat again next year!
